Plentiful saves time and builds trust. As food banks navigate sustained high demand, rising operational costs, and shifting community needs, many are turning to digital tools that help them run smoother operations without sacrificing care or community connection. Enter Plentiful: a free, purpose-built platform that has become a backbone for more than 800 Providers—charitable food distributors such as pantries, food banks, and soup kitchens—and 5.9 million Neighbors—people and their family members seeking charitable food solutions.
Built for Providers, Centered on Neighbors
Plentiful was created by food access leaders who wanted efficient, human-centered solutions for Providers and the communities they serve. It began as a simple way to digitize attendance and check-in—replacing clipboards with a digital system that streamlined intake, reduced wait times, and made reporting more accurate. This shift not only saved staff and volunteers hours of administrative work, but also gave Providers the reliable data they need to qualify for and manage grants.
At the same time, Plentiful gave Neighbors more agency over their own data. Through an app, SMS, web, and WhatsApp channels, Neighbors can set up accounts to find food, receive updates, and manage their information in their language of choice.
Reservations Reduce Waits
One of Plentiful’s most popular features is its reservations system, which allows families to choose a time that works for them instead of waiting in long lines. “About one-third of Providers using Plentiful now offer reservations,” notes Bryan Moran, Plentiful’s Product Director. “Many have seen wait times drop from hours to minutes. The economic value of that time saved is significant for people who are experiencing food insecurity. And food pantries benefit as staff are free to focus on meaningful service.”
Steven Williams, Programs Director at Care and Share Food Bank, sees the difference firsthand: “Plentiful has put the power of access into the hands of our neighbors. No longer do our neighbors need to schedule their lives around accessing basic needs like food. Now, our neighbors can make a reservation to access the food they need when it works for them.”
Elevating Neighbor Voices at Scale
Plentiful also offers something uniquely powerful: a direct line to the Neighbor voice. Because Neighbors trust and regularly engage with the platform, surveys can quickly reach tens of thousands—supplying Providers and municipalities with aggregated, real-time insights to guide decision-making.
“Plentiful gives us a real-time pulse on our community—helping us not only understand current challenges, but also anticipate future needs so we can plan ahead,” says Christa Perfit, Associate Director of Evaluation & Learning at City Harvest. She credits Plentiful with elevating Neighbor feedback in ways that have shaped capital campaigns, informed annual impact surveys, and guided urgent responses during moments like COVID, previous SNAP cuts, and government shutdowns. “I could never reach this scale or depth of feedback with a clipboard,” she adds.
To date, Plentiful has surveyed more than 250,000 Neighbors, delivering actionable feedback that Providers and municipalities use to adapt services, address emerging needs, and plan with confidence.
Free and Flexible
Plentiful is designed to complement existing systems. Whether a pantry, food bank, or soup kitchen uses paper, spreadsheets, or another system entirely, Plentiful can work alongside existing tools or help with transitions when the time is right.
By offering this suite of tools at no cost, with full onboarding and support, Plentiful makes room for what matters most: building trust with neighbors, better planning, stronger communication, and ultimately, delivering food with dignity. The platform is available to any Provider interested in learning more, regardless of size, location, or existing infrastructure.
