Food Bank News is the first and only publication to acknowledge the critical role that food banks and related agencies play in the wellness and livelihood of millions of people living in the United States. We understand that what started as a side project for a single volunteer has now become a permanent layer in the nation’s food supply system. We get that food banks need to operate at a high level to solve overarching issues related to hunger, while still tending to the basic, daily needs of millions. Finally and most importantly, we believe that hunger can and should be eliminated, and that better flow of information, ideas and best practices between members of the hunger-relief community will help reach that goal.
Our mission is to create a community where those working in the charitable food system can gain access to news, information and resources to help them achieve the goal of eliminating hunger. Given the many forces — societal, political and economic — that created the need for food banks in the first place, we seek to challenge food banks to think big and be innovative in addressing hunger. By promoting conversation and information exchange about best practices in the charitable food banking system via an independent, national news source, Food Bank News aims to generate more effective and lasting solutions to hunger.
